There are only so many times a year I can stuff myself with unhealthy food. Usually these binges revolve around holidays or traveling. On Valentine’s Day, our anniversary, our birthdays, and during Thanksgiving, and Christmas all the way until after the end of the year when we return from our vacation at the beach, I usually don’t log what I eat, although I do keep up with the miles we run/walk. And, since we changed what we eat to a vegan diet, 99% vegan for me, we haven’t put on the usual 10+ pounds that most people gain over the holidays. It’s worse for me because my birthday is usually as early as the week before Thanksgiving.
Every year the binging starts on my birthday. This past years it fell on the Wednesday week before Thanksgiving. Then we have family dinner on Thursday, short run/walks on Friday and Saturday and 26.2 miles at the Space Coast Marathon on Sunday. So, I refuse to keep close watch and logging what I eat because I know the calories can rack up quick. However, while on vacation, it makes me feel better when we go out for a 10-mile run one day and can sit around the next counting on the calories burned the day before. And so the cycle continues for however many days we stay on vacation at the beach.
All that being said, once we return home, we’ll buckle down and do better with what we eat and exercise with much more intensity than while on vacation.
