2013-12 ~Dec 30

By on December 30, 2013

It was 3am and I could not sleep.  The TV Easy Listening station was on and it played the song The Chalice from the album the Blessing Tree (1998).  As I try to catch more Zs, unsuccessfully, the words that follow poured out of my soul.

Forever in your Debt

To all of you that believe in me and trust me,
To all of you that give the the chance to be better than I believe myself to be,
To all of you that give my life purpose and meaning,
I am forever in your debt.

Thank you for your trust,
Thank you for your patience,
Thank you for the opportunity
To be the best I can be.

I am forever grateful
You all bring out the best in me.

And with this I close the year in gratitude, thankful for all those that somehow have been instrumental in my growth and learning this year.

I am forever in your debt…

2013-12 ~Dec 25

By on December 25, 2013

It’s Christmas morning and in my household all is quiet.  The girls slept curled up around us.  We are keeping the day simple. We still have a few things to rearrange before going to my in-laws for our family Christmas dinner.

Of all days, today I miss being home the most.  I know my sister will be celebrating with her in-laws and the kids will have an awesome time with their grandmother.  My brother, probably already had a big family party at his place or is ready to head out to visit his in-laws too.  At some point both of them will stop by dad’s to spend some time with him.  Personally, I’ll be making some calls to all.

A well deserve time off starts tomorrow.

2013-11 ~Nov 11

The day after the ultra, Although I feel really sore, especially my arms and shoulders, I’m grateful that falling did not cause more damage.

So far today has been uneventful… helping students with their WordPress site and tutoring.  Amazingly things keep developing in a positive direction.

Grateful to complete the longest distance attempted in a jog/walk, 50K/31-miles.

The day started slow, but steady.  The 3:30 am wake up call, although dreaded, was welcomed.  Getting ready for the Darkside Running Club Ultra was different yesterday.  We ate a Soul Vegetarian the day before, and brought more of their food to the hotel for dinner.  By the time we went to bed, we felt so stuffed, I was afraid we would be in trouble today.

The start of the day, felt rushed.  Our mission was to complete 6-laps around a wooded course at Peachtree City, Georgia. As we continued our trek thru the woods, and because of the passing of time thru the day, every loop brought about a different view.

Other than tripping and falling on my face, the race was uneventful and fun.

First ultra completed!

Grateful for  another day!  The weather is cold, but it still feels good to get outside.

Went out for a 2-mile jog and didn’t take a walking break except for the first quarter mile warmup walk.  I’m pretty proud since I don’t get to do that often.  We are tapering down our running and slowly preparing our gear for this weekend’s ultra (50k/31-miles).  Then, 3 weeks later we have the Space Coast Marathon.  I’m a little nervous about the ultra since my longest run was 30-miles about 2.5 months ago and my most recent longest run was only 25-miles.  We figure if we can run/walk the first 26-miles, those last 5 will crawl to complete it if we have to.

As always, our runs are about putting one foot in front of the other and repeating until we are done.

2013-11 ~Nov 4th

By on November 4, 2013

Noticed today that, because is November, some of my friends on Facebook are posting things that they are grateful for.  So, choosing to join them I will start my posts the rest of the month saying something that I’m grateful for.

I’m grateful for my family and friends, because they get me thru the ups and downs of life.

People say that life is short, make the most of it.

I say, life is short, have fun with it.

2013-11 ~Nov 3rd

By on November 3, 2013

Because of the time changing it’s been a very productive day.  In addition to catching up with my reading, I’ve been updating this site and getting caught up with some of my business related billing. Also today, we went out for an 8 mile run. We wanted to keep it an easy run.  Still I was able to match my pace from the Spinx race.  Now I’m home relaxing with the cats keeping me company.

Other than that the day has been uneventful and quiet.

2013-11 ~Nov 2nd

By on November 2, 2013

I spent the day, not only preparing a handout for school, but also looking at our schedule of races between now and the end of next year.  Also, we watch football games, unwinding after a long week.  South Carolina won against Mississippi State and Florida got beat by Georgia.  Still now as I watch FSU beat down Miami, the day seems to have been productive, although slow.

Days like this are rare for us.  We are usually running around, busy with our everyday things to do.  In addition to running our own business, we both hold part time jobs.  Although there is no need to, on days like today, we feel guilty because we are enjoying the afternoon watching football.  And once the game is over, it will be time to go to bed.

Another day will soon be over
and more to do will come with it.

I started the Artistik Expressions website as part of this year’s Web2 class exercise.  My intention is to work thru the same process the class is working thru in order to better help tutor the students. I also created this site in order to separate my creative work from my Web & Graphic Design business world.

This site is especially dedicated to my ever evolving creative process. Unlike other portfolio sites, here you’ll find my poetry, photography, digital art, and even some journaling. Some areas may be organized in albums, but must will be arranged in combinations of some or all of the above.

Hope you enjoy it!

Has it been that long??

By on March 2, 2008

WOW! Has it been this long since the last time I blogged here? Time flies when you are having fun, I guess!

It has been a season of changes! It will be 2 years this month since we went to Puerto Rico. Our dear friend Sherry Bliss, who went with us to PR, passed away in the summer of 2007! Talk about putting life into perspective! She was someone that was healthy during our trip, found out 6 months later the she had cancer, and died within the year of being diagnosed. Sherry was 36!

Sherry put up a fight in her months battling cancer! And in her struggles she taught us many lessons. She taught us patience, and love, and the importance of friendship. However the most important gift she gave us, was the understanding that life is too short to fret about!

Don and I have had many ups and downs since then. Our business was slow last year, and our focus was spread in multiple endeavors. Personally, we have experience many changes, emotionally and spiritually and we continue to grow on a daily basis.

After attending Millionaire Mind Intensive training in Atlanta on September, 2007, our lives turned into a rollercoaster of change, for the best if I may say. We have established different behavior patterns that allow for our personal development on a daily basis. We journal every day, meditate, read books with a positive message, and practice the principles taught by the Law of Attractions. Sometimes we see as results may take some time to come around to us. Other times they show up as synchronistic subtleties or very strongly in the form of a cosmic 2 by 4, as we lovingly call it!

As we head into one more personal development training, we are exited to say that we are enjoying life changes as they present themselves. Most times everything follows our thinking strategy. Sometimes, when things don’t seem to go as planned, they are gentle reminders to correct our course by correcting our blueprint.

We have learned the hard way that what we resist persist, and that we manifest into our lives whatever we hold in our thoughtBe careful what you wish for, we often say to each other in a loving way, for we understand the power of focusing on that which we don’t want, instead of on that which we do want. (I know, it doesn’t make sense to me sometimes either… go along with it… ponder about it!)

Richard Bach says that life is for fun and learning… when you are not having fun, it means you are learning! I happen to agree with that! And on the odd chance that you find yourself reading this, I wish you fun in life! Although, every once in a while, learning is also good for the heart and soul!

In the meantime, Be @ Peace!
